LISREL is a statistical software package for structural equation modeling (SEM) and related latent-variable analyses. It enables researchers to specify, estimate, and test models such as confirmatory factor analysis, path analysis, full SEM with latent variables, multi-group comparisons, and longitudinal SEM. The program supports continuous and ordinal indicators, offers multiple estimation approaches (including ML, GLS, and WLS with robust options), and provides tools for addressing non-normality and missing data. Models can be defined via the original LISREL matrix notation, the more readable SIMPLIS syntax, or a path-diagram interface. Integrated utilities for data screening and pre-processing (for example, computing polychoric and tetrachoric correlations) and a comprehensive set of fit indices, modification indices, residual diagnostics, and standardized solutions aid in model evaluation and refinement.
